Most travellers reach Bali by plane, landing at the Ngurah Rai international airport just south of Kuta. Once there, the safest thing to do is hop in a Taxi to reach your prefered place to stay. Look for the official Taxi counter and buy your ticket there. It can be a hassle to find a good hotel on your first night, after 15 hours in a bus or a plane. Good value places are often full during peak season. The best strategy is to book by fax or internet for uyour first night on the island. Most hotels, even thouse in faraway areas, will be able to send a car to fetch you at the airport. Make sure however to reconfirm your booking exact time of your arrival and pick up arrangements before leaving.
